I write all sorts but my pieces tend to come out in four main styles:
“aches” of poems with large hearts and sometimes dark recesses;
“slants” of poems sharing quirky perspectives on the world, often narrative/colloquial;
“scapes” of poems exploring my love of place, particularly the built environment;
“strange” stories often set in fantastical urban spaces with placemaker characters.
And sometimes they meet!
Underpinning all my writing is a serious love of wordplay
(I love wordplay and town halls and townplay and wordhalls...).
My work draws on, but is not limited by, my experiences of living with bipolar in the aftermath of trauma and working as a surveyor on public regeneration projects.
How are they connected? Read on! Here’s a wild meadow of my work…
